Quiet Night at Mysore - 100% hand-painted oil painting on canvas

Between earthbound radiance and the depth of night, Quiet Night at Mysore holds a luminous sanctuary in suspension. The building does not simply emerge from darkness; it gathers the surrounding blue into a concentrated presence, as though its many chambers were keeping watch beneath the moon. Its formal symmetry lends the scene a sense of composure, while the clouded sky prevents that calm from becoming still or complete.

The central dome rises toward the large moon with an almost ceremonial gravity. Around it, the smaller domes and pointed towers create a measured rhythm, suggesting an architecture shaped as much by devotion as by display. Warm illumination along the facade feels human and welcoming, yet the surrounding night remains vast enough to preserve a sense of distance.

Across the water, the building returns in broken vertical reflections. This doubling unsettles its apparent permanence: the structure seems anchored on the far shore, but its echoed form is already dissolving into movement. The dark rounded shapes at the waterline deepen that threshold between what is held and what is passing away.

Small points of brightness scattered through the sky and around the structure keep the scene from settling into pure silence. They connect the illuminated building to the larger night without diminishing its presence. The result is a dreamlike interval in which architecture, moonlight, and reflection share a single, unhurried breath.
