PRELUDE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

PRELUDE — A luminous urban passage unfolds beneath a deep blue night sky, where rain, color, and illumination transform an ordinary avenue into a vivid, cinematic encounter. The scene balances intimate human presence with the vertical energy of the city.

Tall facades rise along the left, marked by angular bands of cobalt, turquoise, fiery red, orange, and gold. On the right, leafy trees and rows of glowing streetlamps create a natural counterpoint to the architecture. Two figures walk together beneath a pale umbrella near the lower center, while the wet pavement carries elongated reflections of lamps, buildings, silhouettes, and surrounding color. Thick, expressive brushwork gives every surface a tactile rhythm, from shadowed navy and black areas to flashes of violet, magenta, white, and pale blue. The avenue draws the eye toward a radiant distance, intensifying the sense of movement and atmosphere.

Its vertical composition suits an entryway, reading corner, bedroom, or living space that benefits from a strong sense of depth. The rain-washed setting brings romantic energy, while the saturated palette can enliven neutral surroundings and complement contemporary interiors. With its glowing lamps, reflective roadway, and paired walkers, the scene offers both an immediate decorative statement and quieter details to explore over time.
