PORCH VIEW BRASS - FRAMED

At the edge of departure, where shade gives way to open distance, Porch View Brass holds the suspended swing in a moment of waiting. Its empty seat faces the water and the low sun, suggesting not absence so much as a pause in which memory, return, or choice remains possible. The dark canopy gathers around the scene without closing it off, making the horizon feel like an invitation rather than a destination.

The swing’s stillness is set against the water’s movement, where warm reflections extend toward the foreground in broken paths. This contrast gives the work its inward rhythm: the body remains anchored beneath the trees while the gaze travels outward, drawn through the changing bands of evening light. The scene feels serene, yet not entirely settled, as though departure has been considered but not completed.

Cool blues and violets hold the air around the sunset’s coral and gold, allowing tenderness and distance to exist together. The shoreline does not become a fixed boundary; it becomes a threshold between shelter and exposure, recollection and possibility. In that balance, the painting offers a contemplative interval shaped by what is present, and by the space left open for what may follow.
