about this painting:
MAGIC OF THE SEA
Living near the seashore is like winning a lottery. In the ancient times, ocean or sea could guarantee you having some food to eat and some work to do in order to feed your family. The waves of the sea used to carry the first travelers and discoverers who made our planet the one we all know.
Nowadays, their salty waves can give us anything: from sea products to oil and gold. No doubt that the ocean deserves our deepest love and respect.
Have you ever dreamed about becoming a sailor or maybe even a pirate? For some reason, these “professions” have always been very attractive for young people and later kids all over the world. They symbolize hard work and tough lifestyle but also absolute freedom.
Water is an uncontrollable element, but brave people tried to conquer it for centuries. Some of them managed to do it; however, there were also those who had to give up their lives. Oceans and seas are very mysterious. Here are some interesting facts about them:
- There are 64 seas and 4 oceans on our planet.
- Ocean waves can be 40 meters in height! They are very dangerous for the ships.
- The smallest sea in the world is the White Sea. The biggest one is The Sargasso Sea. It is situated in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. Its waters are distinguished from the waters of the Atlantic because they are calmer and have a brown seaweed, which only lives there.
- Seawater is not drinkable. It can also kill you if you try to drink it causing dehydratation. However, if it is frozen and then defrosted, it becomes drinkable!
- There are more than 3 million sunken ships on the sea bottom.
A wonderful pink sunset painting by Leonid Afremov shows perfectly the majestic atmosphere of a sea at the end of the day. Everybody knows that every sunset near the sea is unique.
A setting sun adds some many incredibly expressive colors to this view. The last ray of the sun leaves a path on the water, almost inviting to take a walk. The painting seems to be emitting light in the room, so bright and colorful it is.
The composition of this canvas is very simple: sea waves, remote mountains and a lonely fishing boat in the center. However, its benefits from this simplicity. Nothing distracts our attention from the beauty of the nature.
