Palace In Reflection - 100% hand-painted oil painting on canvas

Between civic grandeur and dissolving light, Palace in Reflection considers architecture as something held briefly between certainty and change. The palace rises with ceremonial confidence, yet its mirrored form breaks the authority of the building into shifting passages of color. This tension gives the scene its romance: permanence appears to depend on the fleeting conditions around it.

The two domes anchor the composition like watchful markers of a city imagined at its most splendid, while the low sun softens that grandeur into memory. Along the promenade, the small figures remain secondary to the atmosphere, suggesting that human presence here is measured against a setting that feels both public and dreamlike. The illuminated façade seems less like a destination than a threshold between the known city and an inward, almost theatrical reverie.

Reflections carry the scene into a more uncertain register, where the palace, sky, and evening light mingle without entirely resolving into one image. The bright disk near the horizon intensifies this ambiguity, recalling a moment when sunset and moonrise could be mistaken for one another. What remains is not a fixed story but a suspended encounter with splendor - vivid, distant, and already passing.
