Suspended between order and interruption, Open Trace turns geometric structure into a study of measured uncertainty. Its separated forms suggest an architecture whose logic is present but never fully disclosed, allowing gaps and intervals to carry as much weight as the darker passages. The work feels contemplative without becoming passive, as though restraint itself has become a form of attention.
The irregular arrangement of blocks resists a single center, shifting the eye between compact areas of navy and black and the more open expanses around them. This tension gives the composition a private, inward rhythm. Rather than describing a place, it evokes the moment when an unfamiliar structure begins to seem legible, though its meaning remains just beyond certainty.
Across the lower portion, fragmented lightness loosens the severity of the upper forms and introduces a sense of gradual release. The contrast is not dramatic so much as deliberate, preserving the work’s architectural calm while allowing small disruptions to register. Open Trace ultimately holds feeling in suspension - composed, watchful, and open to interpretations that change with sustained attention.
