Its circling forms turn inward and outward as Open Structure holds grief and vitality in the same moving field. The work approaches the theme of grateful dead not as a fixed emblem, but as a charged passage between remembrance, release, and continued motion. Turquoise, orange, red, and black gather into a rhythm that feels less like a conclusion than an opening - a structure continually remaking its sense of direction.
At the center, the yellow spiral carries a concentrated brightness, yet it does not resolve the surrounding movement. It seems to draw the eye toward a moment of recognition before sending attention back into the wider weave. The balance between radiance and weight gives the work an emotional complexity: gratitude here can coexist with absence, while mourning remains connected to energy rather than stillness.
The composition’s openness is felt in the way its curved bands cross and reappear, suggesting that no single boundary can contain what the image is considering. Dark circular forms at the edges lend the surrounding color a counterpressure, like pauses within an insistent rhythm. What emerges is an abstract meditation on continuity - on how memory can remain vivid without becoming static, and how loss may alter the shape of life without bringing its movement to an end.
