Across its crowded field of exchange, Open State turns money into a restless language of desire, access, and movement. Banknotes overlap without settling into a clear order, suggesting value as something continuously negotiated rather than securely possessed. Their familiar markings remain legible enough to anchor the work in everyday life, while the surrounding intensity pushes that recognition toward something more ambiguous.
The upward-angled green note becomes a momentary point of direction, though it offers no stable destination. Around it, turquoise, violet, orange, and red press against one another with the urgency of competing claims. The work feels less concerned with wealth itself than with the charged atmosphere money creates - anticipation, acceleration, and the unease of being drawn into its circulation.
Near the lower-right edge, small dark figures seem to witness this upheaval from within it, neither fully separate nor clearly in control. They give the abstract field a human scale without resolving its meaning. Open State leaves open whether money here represents freedom, pressure, or a shared fiction sustained by collective belief.
