Built around the tension between enclosure and release, Open Space presents architecture as a state of mind rather than a fixed destination. The central opening holds the composition in suspension, offering a passage that feels less like an entrance than a change in attention. Around it, vivid warm and cool forms press close together, making openness appear hard-won and continually in motion.
The work’s abstract structure suggests a place shaped by many encounters, where order is present but never fully settled. A dark horizontal band gathers the upper forms into a measured threshold, while the brighter vertical divisions below it keep the scene alert. The effect is energetic without becoming purely celebratory; the opening carries a sense of possibility touched by uncertainty.
At the lower center, pale stepped forms introduce a pause beneath the surrounding intensity. They can be read as a ledge, a ground, or simply the moment when the eye finds temporary balance. Yet the surrounding blocks refuse stillness, and the passage remains charged by opposing directions. The painting leaves openness unresolved - not emptiness, but a condition continually made and remade by what surrounds it.
