Across its crowded field, Open Balance proposes equilibrium as something continually negotiated rather than quietly attained. Irregular forms press against one another, yet the composition never settles into conflict; each vivid passage seems to make room for another. The title gives this shifting exchange a human resonance, suggesting that steadiness may depend on remaining responsive to change.
The work’s energy gathers through the meeting of unlike impulses. Cool blues and greens temper the urgency of yellow, orange, and red, while pale passages interrupt the darker notes with moments of release. Nothing resolves into a single dominant voice. Instead, the eye moves through a succession of adjustments, sensing order not as symmetry but as a living arrangement of differences.
A deep green movement across the lower portion introduces a subtle directional pull, carrying the composition forward without dictating where attention should rest. Against it, brighter accents flare and recede, like brief recognitions within a larger, ongoing exchange. The result feels less like a fixed statement than a state of alert composure - vivid, unsettled, and held together by its refusal to become still.
