about this painting:
The charm of old things
Modern link cities are often very pleasant to visit and to live in; however, there is a certain pleasure in living in some old city, and there are many people in the world who miss old times. What do they lack for in the contemporary world?
· The old architecture seems to be more interesting and manifold. Architects seem to have been thinking of beauty when building them.
· Earlier cities were quieter, since there were no automobiles on the streets.
· Buildings used to be not so high, which allowed one to enjoy the sky.
The world changing
Modern history shows us that the world is unceasingly changing, and, although we are unable to feel the changes, we are able to comprehend them when thinking about our life in the past and present. Art always reflects the world and, therefore, changes too, and it is obvious that modern dance, or literature, or painting differs much from art created by our ancestors. Leonid Afremov tries to combine contemporary art with academic painting, which helps him to create his own peculiar style that is admired by many people in the world, and this fine canvas of his proves that his artworks deserve admiration.
The quiet city
Looking at this lovely cityscape by Leonid Afremov, we see no present-day buildings, and every object has no connection with the contemporary world. If somebody says you that you have happened to find yourself in the 19th or 20th century, you have no reasons for objecting. Several white boats are seen on the edge of the dark blue surface of water, and one blue vessel is behind them. Small houses stretch themselves along the seashore, so close to the water that the soft waves seem to be licking their thresholds. No people are seen on the streets, and several windows are keeping the warm light of the cosy rooms. Two distant buildings tower over the whole city, solemn and fabulous, resembling two pyramids, and above them the blue sky is trying to shake the dark rain clouds off its even surface, so that nothing can disturb the silence reigning everywhere.
Buy this delightful painting by Leonid Afremov and let you plunge into this enchanting quiet world.
