OLD RUSSIAN TEA - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

OLD RUSSIAN TEA — Richly colored and intensely tactile, this composition transforms a vessel-like form into a lively arrangement of layered shapes and luminous accents. Warm orange, ochre, rust, and gold tones meet cool turquoise, cobalt, violet, and deep green, creating a visual rhythm that feels both ornate and energetic.

A large tiered form anchors the vertical composition, crowned by a dark rounded element and a small pale point. Repeated horizontal bands move through its center, where cream, yellow, and orange highlights contrast with deep gaps and shadowed passages. Around it, smaller rounded and angular shapes emerge through dense, blocky strokes. The lower area broadens into a pale blue-and-cream form surrounded by rust, brown, and blue marks. Heavy impasto and short rectangular, palette-knife-like strokes build a pronounced surface, while fragmented contours keep the interior arrangement deliberately elusive. The result is an abstracted still life with a strong illuminated core and expressive color layering.

Its centered vertical structure makes a confident focal point in a living room, study, dining area, or creative workspace. The saturated palette can enliven neutral surroundings, while the substantial texture rewards close viewing and changing light. Energetic brushwork brings movement to quieter interiors; the warm central glow also pairs naturally with wood, brass, leather, and earth-toned furnishings.
