OLD KISS B&W PALETTE KNIFE Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

OLD KISS B&W — An intimate urban encounter unfolds in bold contrast, pairing the tenderness of a near-kiss with the charged presence of a vintage automobile. The scene balances romance, movement, and nocturnal atmosphere in a richly expressive composition.

Two figures lean toward one another on the right, their faces touching or nearly touching. One wears a flowing red-orange garment deepened by purple and blue shadows, while the other appears in a light gray jacket over darker clothing. A rounded automobile anchors the left side, its bright circular headlights and multicolored reflections standing out against layered charcoal, black, and silver-gray brushwork. Broken vertical reflections spread across the dark ground, while angular strokes create a restless street-like backdrop. Simplified forms and emphatic, impasto-like marks heighten the painting’s tactile energy. Accents of red, orange, yellow, blue, teal, and purple punctuate the predominantly monochromatic setting.

The strong left-right balance makes this work especially effective above a sofa, console, or reading area where its cinematic tension can be appreciated at a glance. Its intimate subject suits bedrooms and private spaces, while the dramatic vehicle and reflective pavement bring an urban edge to contemporary interiors. Ideal for collections focused on romance, expressive figurative painting, vintage automobiles, or high-contrast black-and-white imagery.
