Moonlit Basilica - 100% hand-painted oil painting on canvas

Under a high, watchful moon, Moonlit Basilica gathers the waterfront into a meditation on presence and distance. The basilica stands at the center not merely as a landmark, but as a point of return, its pale domes and arches holding their ground between the dark sky and the open water. Around it, towers and adjoining buildings create the feeling of a city shaped by memory, still awake after night has settled.

The scene’s serenity is tempered by the water’s depth. Narrow boats and mooring posts remain in the foreground, close enough to suggest departure, while the illuminated façades seem to belong to a more enduring rhythm. Golden reflections descend in broken vertical paths, connecting the inhabited shore with its shifting counterpart below and making the city feel both solid and momentary.

A bright moon enclosed by circling blue carries the work beyond simple nocturnal romance. It lends the architecture a calm authority, yet the scattered lights and distant forms preserve a sense of human interruption - small signs of life gathered beneath an immense, indifferent sky. The result is a threshold scene, poised between arrival and disappearance.
