Within a compressed field of competing energies, Modern Structure turns order into a source of tension and release. Its interlocking blocks suggest a structure that is never entirely settled: dark boundaries contain the composition even as vivid bands press forward, refusing quiet symmetry. The work feels less like a fixed system than a moment of continuous rearrangement, where stability and interruption depend on one another.
The central movement, carried by flashes of yellow and orange, gives the composition an inner insistence. Around it, burgundy, navy, and charcoal create a denser register, allowing the brighter passages to read as pressure rather than simple illumination. This contrast lends the work an urban, almost architectural intensity without reducing it to a literal scene.
What remains is a balance between containment and momentum. The near-grid of forms offers a language of measured intervals, yet the irregular edges keep those intervals from becoming predictable. Each passage seems to alter the weight of its neighbors, so attention moves through the work as if following an argument that keeps changing its terms.
