MODERN ISLAND BLOCKS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across a lucid field of water, Modern Island Blocks imagines habitation as a gathering of separate yet connected worlds. Its architecture feels less like a fixed city than a temporary arrangement, suspended between land and open sea. The ordered forms invite thoughts of belonging, distance, and the delicate terms by which a community might hold together without losing its sense of solitude.

The trees rising from recessed spaces complicate the severity of the geometry. They suggest that life has not been added to these structures as decoration, but has found its own unexpected routes through them. Against the broad blue expanse, the white forms become islands of attention - composed, self-contained, and still vulnerable to the surrounding immensity.

Reflections beneath the blocks loosen the distinction between solid ground and passing image. The small white birds at the left introduce a measure of movement, keeping this serene world from becoming entirely sealed off. What remains is an architectural dream with no clear boundary between shelter and departure, where brightness carries both reassurance and a faint awareness of impermanence.
