MIRROR FROG CHARM - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Within a charged encounter between creature and reflection, Mirror Frog Charm turns a familiar amphibian into a study of alertness and self-recognition. The frog seems poised between movement and stillness, its bright eye holding the world in a moment of concentrated attention. Below, its altered likeness does not simply repeat the body; it loosens the certainty of what is seen and what is felt.

The reflection stretches beneath the frog like a second presence, vivid enough to suggest a companion, an echo, or a thought returning in unfamiliar form. This doubling gives the work its playful tension. The animal appears grounded in the shallow water, yet its mirrored counterpart carries a more fluid identity, as though perception itself were shifting with every ripple.

A broad mouth line and watchful eye lend the figure an almost knowing expression without turning it into a fixed character. The surrounding blues and greens deepen the sense of immersion, while flashes of warmer color keep the image alert and animated. What remains is a small drama of recognition - the living figure looking outward, and the water answering with something close to memory.
