LOST MIRROR - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Suspended between recognition and uncertainty, Lost Mirror turns reflection into an unstable passage rather than a promise of clarity. The large circular form seems to hold a world that has drifted out of alignment, its warm inner glow gathering against the surrounding depths. What it returns is not a likeness so much as a shifting invitation to reconsider what is being sought.

The smaller reflective form below introduces a second, more intimate register. Its bright edge feels like a fragment of the larger vision, or perhaps a remnant that has fallen free from it. Between the two, the diagonal dark form gives the scene a sense of direction without revealing a destination, allowing the image to hover between discovery and departure.

Around these forms, scattered points of light and revolving blue expanses suggest an immense space where memory could become indistinguishable from distance. The contrast between the cool surrounding atmosphere and the concentrated gold-white radiance makes the reflection feel briefly illuminated, never fully explained. The work sustains that moment when an image appears to answer us, then changes before it can be understood.
