LILAC LAGOON B&W - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the edge of a suspended stillness, Lilac Lagoon B&w turns a butterfly into a precise encounter with the unknown. Its vivid violet wings hold the attention not as an emblem with a fixed meaning, but as a sudden presence against the openness beyond the ledge. The work’s cool atmosphere suggests a moment paused between departure and return, where beauty feels both near and ungraspable.

The weathered terrace gives that fleeting presence a longer frame of reference. Pale masonry extends toward the distance, its broken edges and recesses suggesting a place shaped by time without assigning it a definite past. Against this restrained architecture, the butterfly seems less fragile than alert, briefly claiming the ledge as a point from which the surrounding silence can be sensed.

A darker structure below introduces a subtle gravity beneath the luminous upper space. It prevents the scene from becoming purely weightless, allowing wonder and uncertainty to remain together. The scattered lilac and pink traces across the stone echo the butterfly without simply repeating it, as though its arrival has altered the stillness in ways that cannot be fully measured.
