LAGOON SIREN'S SONG - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the edge of darkness, a figure seems to enter the water without surrendering to it, carrying a sense of departure that remains unresolved. Lagoon Siren's Song gives this passage a mythic charge, not as a fixed tale but as a moment suspended between invitation and escape. Her profile turns away while the long sweep behind her keeps the unseen world present, as though movement itself has become a form of memory.

The trailing ribbons create a tension between freedom and attachment. They follow her like a current, yet their luminous colors make them feel almost sentient - a force that may be drawing her onward or holding her to the place she is leaving. The single extended leg, disappearing into the shallows, makes the decision feel physical and immediate.

Around her, the water receives scattered light without clarifying its source. Reflections in turquoise, green, and gold open a path through the darker foreground, while the indistinct distance refuses to become a recognizable shore. The result is dreamlike but not weightless: the figure appears caught in a threshold where beauty carries risk, and where the next step remains deliberately unknown.
