ISOLATED DEPTH presents a quiet Greenland tundra stretching toward distant ice fields, textured with snow and rock, capturing the scale and isolation of Greenland’s Arctic terrain.
Thick palette knife strokes shape ice, rock, and water into a tactile surface with visible depth.
The composition emphasizes cold light, silence, and vast open space.

Across its wide, suspended silence, Isolated Depth turns the mountain horizon into a study of distance, where each receding ridge seems to withdraw from ordinary measure. The pale expanse does not feel empty so much as withheld, holding the viewer at the edge of a world defined by cold light and vast intervals. A narrow band of darker blue gives the middle distance a sense of passage without suggesting an arrival.
The layered peaks carry a tension between shelter and exposure. Their overlapping forms offer no single route through the landscape, while the bright snow tracing the slopes briefly gathers the eye before releasing it again into the open sky. In this shifting scale, solitude becomes less a condition of abandonment than a form of attention - a way of noticing how presence can be felt even where human traces are absent.
Toward the foreground, the deeper ridges bring the distant terrain into emotional focus. They seem to hold the silence close, making the far ice-bright spaces feel both remote and strangely immediate. The work leaves that remoteness unresolved, poised between severity and calm, as though the landscape is asking to be encountered slowly rather than possessed or explained.
