about this painting:

A special genre completely dedicated to painting sea appeared for the first time in the XVII century in Holland. Before it used to belong to landscape painting but after a while artists realized its full emotional potential. Practically, you can express almost every feeling by painting open water. Sea during the storm can be compared with an angry person who is dangerous in wrath. A calm and peaceful surface at sunrise is like a young innocent person who is just starting his or her life. By painting waves they can express passion, energy or anger.

Big talent

In the middle of the last century, in Belarus was born a boy whose name is Leonid Afremov. Today he is known all over the world as one of the most talented painters of our time. He studied art first at institute and then by himself. For him, the best way to do that was travelling and watching the nature and people around him. He tried to reflect his emotional state when he was seeing beautiful things on canvas. And he was quite successful.

Afremov enjoys painting the sea a lot. He traveled many times to Italy, Portugal and other European countries that have access to the sea. Their well-mannered and secretly passionate ports and beaches inspired best of his paintings.

Romantic sea

“Inside of Sea’s cradle” is one of marine paintings by Leonid Afremov. In the center of a canvas you can see a cute little boat with a velum. There are many more others in the background. The sun has almost set already and we see light lights on the boats that look so cozy.

  • On the horizon, there is a massive black silhouette of some mountains. It seems that this painting was inspired by some Southern country with warm climate and a lot of sun.
  • On board we can see a figure of an old man who is watching the night to fall. This peaceful scenery reflects harmony and peace in the soul of the author of this painting.
  • This painting of a sea after the sunset stuns you with the brightness of blue. It shines like a precious stone. Radiant spots of yellow and white help to equilibrate this color.
  • There are some dark colors used as well. Their aim is to give more depth to the painting and make it look as realistic as if you truly were onboard of one of those boats.

I purchased "Misty Café" two weeks ago. I was amazed when it arrived in only that time. Undid it (so well packed) took me ages. I had ordered it mounted on the wooden frame. Absolutely love my picture. So very impressed with the work, I wanted a vibrant/large picture for my wall and am so very pleased. I went to an exhibition in London a few weeks ago where I live and was so disappointed not to have found anything and then by accident discovered Leonid's website. I would not hesitate to recommend this artist and cannot wait to order again.

I just received the painting I ordered ("The Melody of the Night") and I have to say: I am completely amazed by its beauty. I could spend hours marvelling at it. Thank you Mr. Afremov for this splendid piece of art. All the best from Austria, Bettina

Today, I received the painting I ordered, "Dance Under the Rain." I had seen the pictures of this painting online and finally decided I had to buy it. It arrived safely and is perfect! The colors are so deep and overall the painting is exquisite! I will definitely be buying some more art from Leonid Afremov very soon!
