INFINITE SWIRL GRID - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across its tightly ordered field, Infinite Swirl Grid turns repetition into a form of movement, where each small enclosure seems to gather its own momentum. The work invites sustained looking without offering a single point of arrival; attention travels from curl to curl, held between the discipline of the grid and the freedom of its shifting lines.

The separate panels feel less like isolated units than brief states within a larger rhythm. Some spirals tighten inward, while others wander or loosen, creating subtle changes in pace across the composition. Their differences keep the pattern alive, suggesting that order need not mean stillness.

A gradual passage from rust, orange, and brown through green toward deep blue gives the field an almost atmospheric progression. It can be read as a movement from heat into distance, though the work leaves that passage open - the colors operate as a change in mental temperature as much as a sequence.

The dark divisions provide a steady measure for this restless abundance, returning the eye to the scale of the individual square before it drifts outward again. Near the lower-right edge, a small pale mark offers a final interruption, less a conclusion than a reminder that even within a rigorous system, irregularity remains present.
