HOLLOW STAR - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of Hollow Star, darkness becomes a point of passage rather than an ending. The irregular central form holds a bright crossing of light, suggesting a moment when something concealed briefly opens and releases its force. Around it, the composition gathers momentum without settling into a literal scene, keeping its mystery inward and immediate.

The surrounding radiance gives that opening a sense of emergence. Cream, pale blue, and gold press outward from the center, while deeper blues, teal, violet, and burgundy retain the feeling of an immense space beyond what can be fully seen. Light here does not simply illuminate; it appears to be breaking through pressure.

The outward movement is especially compelling because it resists perfect order. The radiating direction suggests expansion, yet the uneven dark boundary at the center keeps the image from becoming purely celebratory. It holds a tension between revelation and resistance, as though clarity has arrived but remains surrounded by what it cannot explain.

Near the lower center, warmer amber and reddish energy gathers into a denser pulse, giving the otherwise cosmic impression a more human register. The work can be approached as an image of renewal, but also of endurance: a small, lucid opening sustained within forces that continue to surge beyond it.
