HIDDEN MANE explores a powerful wolf figure emerging from textured ground, pressed into stark contrast, cast in rugged knife impressions through layered palette knife textures and sculptural strokes.
Bold impasto ridges catch shifting light, while scraped passages reveal underlying hues and tonal variation.
The composition invites close viewing, highlighting movement, contrast, and expressive material presence.

A direct encounter with winter’s vigilance, Hidden Mane 2 draws the viewer into the wolf’s measured approach, where lowered head and steady gaze suggest neither submission nor attack, but an alert passage through difficult terrain. Its near head-on presence narrows the distance between animal and observer, making solitude feel immediate rather than remote. The pale ground and darkened markings around the face sharpen this tension, as though the surrounding cold has stripped the scene to instinct and movement.
The extended paw gives the image a suspended sense of arrival, while the sweeping blue-gray shadow pulls that forward motion into a more uncertain register. The wolf seems self-contained, yet not entirely at rest; its lifted ears and trailing tail hold the possibility of listening, departure, or return. Against the broken snow, its warm earth tones carry a restrained memory of the world beyond the frost, allowing the figure to remain both creature and presence.
