Against an unsettled sky, Hidden Figure places a crow at the edge of visibility, where presence feels more enduring than explanation. Its dark profile stands apart from the open land, not as a fixed emblem but as a watchful interruption in a landscape that seems to withhold its meaning. The work’s tension comes from this meeting of solitude and alertness, giving the bird a role that remains deliberately unresolved.

The low horizon keeps the crow close to the ground while the vast sky presses outward above it. This imbalance suggests a creature caught between departure and stillness, though nothing in its stance confirms either possibility. The pointed beak and folded wings lend the figure a composed severity, as if attention itself has become a form of resistance.
