Beneath the gaze of water, Hidden Arms turns concealment into a form of presence, suggesting a creature that is never fully still or fully revealed. Its burgundy body gathers attention without surrendering its mystery, while the tentacles extend in sweeping arcs that feel less like escape than a widening field of awareness. The surrounding blue and cream atmosphere gives this encounter a suspended quality, as though the subject has emerged from a depth where ordinary boundaries have loosened. What appears hidden here may be less about secrecy than the instinct to remain capable of movement in every direction.
That tension becomes more intimate in the visible rows of suction cups, each small mark hinting at contact, attachment, and the intelligence of touch. The raised eye near the upper center resists any purely abstract reading, introducing a watchful presence that seems to register the viewer without becoming familiar. Darkness beneath the body lends the work a gravity that balances its energetic curves, leaving the octopus poised between alertness and surrender. Its mystery is not distant; it gathers close, active and unresolved.
