HALLSTATT LIGHTS - FRAMED

Between mountain shadow and reflected fire, Hallstatt Lights considers how a small community can appear both sheltered and exposed beneath an overwhelming landscape. Its warmth gathers along the waterfront, while the surrounding darkness gives that glow a measured intensity - less a display than a sign of continued presence. The scene holds serenity and drama in the same breath, allowing the settlement to feel briefly gathered against the vastness around it.

The slender church spire gives the clustered village a point of inward focus. Around it, the buildings seem to rise toward the darker slopes, their illumination suggesting not celebration but a steady rhythm of life after daylight has withdrawn. The larger structure on the upper slope extends that warmth beyond the shoreline, creating a subtle sense of connection between the village and the mountain.

Across the lower half, the settlement does not simply end at the water; its light continues in broken vertical reflections, stretched and altered by the dark surface. This correspondence makes the lake feel like a second, more uncertain version of the village - recognizable, yet loosened from architecture and time. The work’s stillness comes from that suspended relationship between solid shelter, open distance, and light that refuses to disappear.
