GOING SHOPPING - oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov

GOING SHOPPING — A lively urban moment unfolds in bold color, capturing two women moving through a busy shopping district beneath a canopy of umbrellas. The scene brings everyday activity into a vivid, rain-brightened world of movement and reflection.

The figures occupy the center-right foreground, with one woman carrying several pale shopping bags and the other holding a dark garment or bag. Overlapping umbrellas punctuate the composition, while fragmented vertical forms suggest storefronts, displays, or city buildings behind them. Below, wet pavement mirrors deep blue, turquoise, teal, green, red, orange, yellow, lavender, and magenta accents. Broad, heavily textured strokes and strong contrasts give the image an expressive, impressionistic energy, while a small white handwritten mark appears near the lower-left corner.

Its wide horizontal composition suits a living room, entryway, boutique, or creative workspace, particularly where energetic color and urban atmosphere can enliven the surroundings. The combination of recognizable figures, reflective pavement, and abstract city forms invites repeated viewing, balancing a clear shopping narrative with richly layered visual texture. It offers a spirited focal point for interiors seeking brightness, motion, and contemporary city character.
