GLOWING MUSIC - oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov

GLOWING MUSIC — A radiant outdoor music scene unfolds beneath a canopy of autumn color, alive with movement, reflection, and warm evening light. The painting brings together a lively ensemble and a glowing streetlamp in a richly atmospheric composition.

Dense branches and multicolored leaves fill the upper portion, combining orange, yellow, red, and green with cooler turquoise, blue, and violet shadows. Across the lower scene, grouped musicians hold stringed instruments, with a large upright double bass commanding the foreground and a brass instrument adding another note of visual interest. At the center, a bright multi-pane streetlamp casts a golden halo over the gathering. Wet pavement extends the scene into vivid, broken reflections, echoing the figures, instruments, foliage, and light. Short, layered brushstrokes create a highly textured surface, while strong contrasts give the image an expressive, almost sparkling energy.

Its festive autumnal mood suits music rooms, creative studios, dining areas, and welcoming social spaces. The contrast between warm illumination and cool shadows gives the composition depth, while the reflective pavement draws the eye through the foreground. Colorful, energetic, and richly detailed, it brings the atmosphere of an outdoor concert and a rainy evening street into a single captivating artwork.
