GLASSFROST LAKE - FRAMED

Winter distance gathers its meaning in Glassfrost Lake, where the half-frozen water becomes a threshold between immediate stillness and the unreachable ridges beyond. The pale opening at the horizon draws the eye inward, not toward arrival but toward a suspension of time. Snow-lined shores and dark trees hold the scene in a calm tension, giving the landscape the feeling of a place briefly released from human urgency.

The lake’s broken reflections complicate its serenity. Ice and water appear to share the same uncertain condition, suggesting a season caught between surrender and return. Along the banks, the continuous trees provide a steady, shadowed presence, while the distant mountains recede into layered coolness. Nothing announces itself; the scene asks for attention to gradual change, to the difference between emptiness and spaciousness.

Above this still passage, the clouded sky carries a muted brightness that gathers near the central horizon. It lends the landscape a restrained sense of possibility without resolving its silence. The work remains open-ended: a winter expanse, but also an inward interval in which distance feels less like separation than a form of clarity.
