Around a circling center, Free Structure turns the movement of koi into a meditation on balance, return, and the forces that keep a living pattern in motion. The three fish do not seem to travel toward a destination; they participate in a shared current, each curve reinforcing the next. Their orange-and-white bodies bring flashes of vitality to the deep aquatic field, while the central whirl suggests a point of stillness within continual change.
The composition holds energy and composure at once. The fish bend in the same direction as the surrounding rings, making their movement feel less like pursuit than a ritual of recurrence. That circular order allows the work to hover between observation and inward reflection: the water may be read as an environment, but also as a state of mind in which every gesture returns altered.
