Five figures gather before a field of competing signs, and Formal Meeting turns collective attention into its central subject. Seen from behind, they are defined less by identity than by the shared direction of their gaze, as though agreement has been deferred in favor of careful looking. The central figure stands slightly ahead, giving the group a subtle axis without resolving who leads or who follows.
The surrounding arrangement of vivid blocks suggests ideas in motion, yet nothing settles into a single readable message. Against this restless field, the darker clothing of the figures creates a measured pause - a moment when observation becomes participation. Their anonymity keeps the scene open, allowing the gathering to feel equally like a discussion, a review, or the instant before someone speaks.
What gives the work its tension is the distance between the apparent order of the group and the unruly abundance before it. The figures face something assembled but not fully understood, making the scene a meditation on how meaning is negotiated together. Attention becomes the quiet bond between them, while the unresolved forms preserve the possibility of disagreement, discovery, and change.
