A river’s deliberate curve gives Flowing Scene a sense of passage without destination, drawing the eye from intimate foreground space toward an open horizon. The work treats the dune not as a fixed wilderness, but as a changing field of distance, where water introduces direction and possibility into an otherwise immense silence.
The narrowing channel becomes a measure of time, widening as it approaches the viewer and receding into the pale expanse beyond. Around it, bands of sand and muted violet suggest ground continually altered by light, wind, and memory. Nothing appears settled; the landscape feels poised between arrival and departure.
Above this passage, broad cloud forms gather with an almost architectural weight, balancing the low horizon and giving the sky its own momentum. Their brightness keeps the scene from becoming austere, while the cool river holds a lucid thread through the warmth of the dunes. The resulting calm is active rather than still - a quiet movement that remains open to interpretation.
