Movement seems to gather before it becomes direction in Flowing Ground, where a vivid field of green and gold carries forms that hover between fish, leaves, and passing thoughts. The scene feels less like a fixed landscape than a living passage, with its energy continually drawn onward through the image. What appears familiar never settles into a single reading.
The diagonal currents give the work a sense of seasonal release, as though new growth were being swept into motion rather than simply arriving. Turquoise channels slip through the denser ground, opening brief intervals of clarity before the surrounding vitality closes in again. This is a world governed by flow, but not by calm.
The elongated forms hold the tension between individual life and the larger movement around it. Orange, red, pink, and pale accents emerge like sudden signals within the green, suggesting recognition without making the scene illustrative. Their varied directions keep the eye moving, while the surrounding field remains too restless to become a stable setting.
At its heart, the painting considers change as something immersive rather than distant: growth, drift, and renewal happening at once. The brightness gathered along the sweeping bands feels hard-won, continually pressed against darker passages that lend it depth. Its vitality is generous, yet it retains an undertow of uncertainty, as if every visible form were already being carried toward another state.
