FLOATING TOWER - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Above a restless sea, Floating Tower holds its strange position between ascent and collapse, a vertical presence suspended where solid ground should be. Its pointed silhouette rises into the unsettled sky, while warm openings keep a fragile human measure within the surrounding vastness. The structure feels less like a destination than a test of balance, caught between the pull of the waves and an impulse toward the light.

The dark chains extending toward the water complicate that upward reach. They suggest attachment, weight, or a history that cannot be left behind, yet their diagonal movement also gives the scene a sense of departure. Below, the tower’s golden reflection breaks across the waves, as if the sea were briefly answering the illumination above it without offering any lasting support.

The work’s drama lies in this tension between vulnerability and endurance. Cool darkness gathers around the suspended form, but the glowing apertures resist disappearance, each small opening carrying the possibility of shelter without promising safety. The storm does not merely surround the tower; it makes its precarious elevation feel like an ongoing condition, where wonder and danger remain inseparable.
