FLOATING FOUNTAIN - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of nocturnal stillness, Floating Fountain turns an ordinary public space into a suspended moment of release. Its upward surge seems to gather the surrounding darkness before letting it fall outward again, holding movement and repose in the same breath. The fountain becomes less a landmark than a temporary center of attention, where the night appears briefly organized around a single rising gesture.

The tall spray gives the scene a sense of vertical insistence, yet the water below answers it with widening reflections. This exchange suggests a fleeting kind of balance: energy rises, disperses, and returns as light. The basin’s low circular form keeps that motion intimate, as though the fountain were containing a private rhythm beneath the open sky.

Around it, the shadowed trees and scattered lamps create the feeling of a place encountered after the day has withdrawn. Warm points among the branches do not dispel the darkness; they deepen its atmosphere, making the fountain feel both present and slightly unreal. It could be a meeting place, though no human figure is needed for the sense of quiet arrival.

The reflected blues, violets, and amber lights loosen the boundary between water and evening, allowing the lower half of the scene to carry its own shifting life. What remains is not a fixed story but an impression of renewal - a bright interruption in the night that continues to echo after the central spray has fallen.
