Its circling currents make Floating Field a meditation on what persists after disappearance. The work’s reference to the grateful dead is approached less as a fixed story than as a charged condition - absence still moving, memory refusing to settle, vitality returning in altered form. Repeated spirals gather and release that tension, giving the composition an energy that feels both ceremonial and unsettled.
Against the surrounding dark intervals, the broad golden passage carries a sense of passage rather than arrival, while the surrounding turquoise and green currents keep redirecting the eye. Nothing resolves into a single emblem or conclusion. Instead, the forms seem to hover between emergence and dissolution, as though the work is holding open a threshold where loss and renewal can occupy the same restless rhythm.
