about this painting:

FLASH OF THE SUNSET

A special time of the day

The sea is always mesmerizingly beautiful and unfathomable. Its depth seem to hide some incredible secrets that can be partly revealed when the sun dances on the surface of the waves painting them in spectacular colors. These are moments of perfect harmony between the sea and the sky that reflect each other in a captivating play of hues. No wonder so many people love contemplating sunrises and sunsets on the seashore. Just imagine: the day is almost gone, there is a quite golden glow spilled around, the whole world is still and solemn as if waiting for something magnificent to happen… And then you see it - the incredible show of the setting sun that scatters its flash palette all over the horizon. Blood red, deep crimson, juicy orange and mysterious violet - all those shades entwine and explode over your head leaving you breathless. Just this kind of moment is depicted on Leonid Afremov’s canvas!

The dance of colors

As a rule, there is more of the water in a seascape than the sky. But this painting is totally different. Almost 4/5 of it is taken by the spectacularly lit sky with rows of clouds stretching across it. Still pure and blue up high, it grows significantly darker and eerier as our eyes travel down to the horizon where the shiny pearl of the sun is about to sink into the cold depth of the sea. Gentle violet and cheerful orange hues are blurred into the heavy red, almost ominous-looking glare spread above the very surface of the sea. Some clouds look nearly black from the downside making us wonder whether there is a storm approaching. The water shimmers enigmatically, mirroring the dazzling palette of the sky, and if we look up and then immediately, we won’t be able to distinguish between the two. There are a few boat silhouettes sailing in the distance; their thin masts are distinctly seen against the background even from afar because of the bright sheen playing on their metal surfaces. A few more minutes - and it’s going to get completely dark. The sun will be gone and the world will fall into the starry embrace of the night.

You can hang this lovely painting:

-    In your living room to create a bright spot for the eye

-    In your bedroom for a more romantic atmosphere

-    In your study or office to inspire you during work

Testimonials
3 days ago I put a picture of Afremov in the living room and not pry my eyes off her. Afremov is an artist who paints with fireworks, the rich colors so beautifully combined as if painted with light. Until now I never suspected that his art can act so inspiring.
