I would like to present my hand painted oil on canvas painting (recreation) of the artwork FLAMENCO DANCE. The artwork has texture, you can feel the strokes by touching the painting. By purchasing on this site, you are buying directly from the artist Leonid Afremov. I guarantee your satisfaction and the best customer experience.

The certificate of authenticity will include the name of the owner who purchased the piece of artwork. The certificate is signed by Leonid Afremov. about this painting:

Dancing has always been associated with passion and joy of life. In ancient times, people used dances as sacred rituals to make contact with nature and gods and to commemorate the loss of relatives and friends. Dancing was also used during wars to frighten the enemy and to raise moral spirit of the army.

In spite of its unhappy role sometimes, this activity has always been considered as cheerful and hopeful. To be happy and to express emotions is in our nature, as well as for birds is natural to fly and sing. However, the rich palette of human language was developed much later than our necessity to communicate. It was the body who had to “speak” about their hopes, worries and desires.

Flamenco is no exception from a general rule. Here are some facts about this interesting fenomena:

  • This dance was born in XV century, however, its modern realization was formed only in XX century when an African dance brought to Spain started to adopt Cuban rhythms and moves. So, this dance is practically universal!
  • Moreover, this dance wouldn’t exist without Gypsies. For example, a traditional costume for female dancers, which consists of a blouse and a long skirt with a wide lap, obviously has something to do with this nation. Male clothing with wide black pants and a waistcoat also was influenced by their fashion. As well as the signing, which is always tragic and touching, and the accompaniment of the guitar have a lot in common with Gypsy music.
  • This dance has many styles and genres. In Spanish, they are called palos. For example, Alegrías, Rumba, Tangos. No matter what style you prefer, it will always contain improvisation, dramatic movements and burning emotions!
  • Flamenco is part of World Heritage protected by UNESCO.

Flamenco painting by Leonid Afremov depicts a dancing woman. It is a real outburst of colors! The works of this painter are always extremely bright, and his personal style goes very well with the true nature of this dance.

If you look at the picture long enough, it will seem that it’s moving. That’s how expressive Afremov’s manner is. Not only he creates this impression thanks to the combination of colors but he also implies a special technique of applying paint on canvas. Palette knife is a special instrument that lets him create a three-dimensional space in his paintings.

We bought "Freshness of Cold" a while ago, and we are absolutely in love with it. The purchasing process was easy and issue-free, and the painting came even earlier than promised. We've just bought our second (and third) paintings--we can't have enough! Simply fantastic, beautiful work.
