about this painting:

The history of tradition

England has given the world many beautiful traditions and one of them is five o’clock tea. But few of us know that this aristocratic habit was engendered by gluttony rather than elegance. We owe it to one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting known as the Duchess of Bedford who couldn’t get enough of royal desert and, tired of eating alone in her bedroom, invented a graceful and socially acceptable way to cram her noble guts with delicacies in the delightful company of other court members. The practice quickly gained popularity in elite British circles and since the Duchess treated her guests with fancy pastries and cakes served on fine china and accompanied by an obligatory cup of hot fragrant tea, it went down in history as five o’clock tea and remains that way despite variance in timing.

Beautiful hour

This exquisite piece of canvas art takes us to a quiet cozy parlor filled with soft golden shadows of an early evening. Puffing busily through its steamy nose, the lovely teapot fine-crafted from flowery china keeps its brewed contents warm and fresh for somebody’s fastidious palates. You can already smell the delicious flavor coming from the beautifully ornamented cup full of this delightful beverage. The artist used warm sepia hues to convey the serenity of this peaceful hour. The background is completely covered with quick splashy dabs of yellow, ochre and lilac hanging in the air like a swirl of idle thoughts, so lazy they even forgot who they belong to. Lulled by the warmth of the tea, you sink into a blissful reverie and silence blossoms in the room like a fragile golden tree.

Benefits of original art

For those unfamiliar with the concept, original painting is a piece of art created by the artist in the moment of pure inspiration. And although they can paint it over and over again afterwards, this first copy remains most expressive and emotional and therefore more valuable. If you are looking for a really beautiful oil painting to decorate your interior design, consider buying one of Leonid Afremov artworks. Here is why:

  • Their bright palette will instantly revive any wall.
  • The artist is known for his unique painting technique capable of magically transforming even the simplest scene.
  • His paintings radiate strong positive emotions that will raise your mood and create a warm, cozy atmosphere in your home.
