Leonid Afremov has several fishing paintings and each of them is especially beautiful, each conveys the emotions that we feel when we are engaged in this occupation. All these emotions are also conveyed by paints that the artist used to depict his evening landscape. In this lake painting, we find the most diverse colors – they are all very bright and saturated. The largest cluster of bright colors we see in the sky – the center of which is the sun. The artist painted it yellow-white. Thanks to this color, we feel all the heat of the setting sun. However, it is hardly possible to accurately determine the weather in this fishing painting – on the one hand, the bright sun floods the entire expanse of the sea that extends to the horizon, on the other hand, we find many colors on the edges of the painting that indicate a bad weather that has just come to an end or will come soon. Soft pink and purple shades cover large areas of the sky on the left and right in the painting. These lilac colors are reflected in the sea coloring it in the colors of sunset. A man sitting in the boat must be fully captured by such a game of colors. His desire to retire with nature was completely satisfied – he received even more than he wanted. He did not expect that he would witness such a riot of colors. By the way, against the background of these bright colors in the sky, green grass in the foreground of the painting that separates the fisherman from the open sea looks especially bright and juicy.
