Against an unlit field, Fire Drums gathers its force from forms that seem to pulse without settling into a single identity. The title suggests percussion, but the image remains more elemental than literal: a gathering of radiant pressures, suspended between signal and sensation. Its cropped circles create the impression of something larger continuing beyond view, as though the work catches only part of an ongoing rhythm.
At the center, orange and gold brightness presses outward from darker rings, giving each form an inward source of energy. The surrounding reds deepen that impression, shifting the image toward heat, urgency, and the charged moment before sound becomes movement. Nothing here feels still, even where the composition holds its balance.
The pale lavender circle near the upper center introduces a cooler interval, not as relief but as a change in register. Against the burgundy and near-black depths, it seems to hover like a distant tone entering a crowded measure. The result is an abstract encounter with recurrence and intensity, where each luminous form appears to answer another without resolving the exchange.
