about this painting:

Our Dreams

A great contemporary artist

One of the easiest solutions to bring some sophisticated charm to your interior design as well as to your daily life is to acquire a painting. If you’re interested in abstract or realistically looking art and can’t make up your mind while choosing from hundreds of contemporary artists, Leonid Afremov’s works can be perfect for you. With the help of oil paints and palette knifes, he manages to create:

  • Outstanding cityscapes;
  • Marvelous landscapes;
  • Breathtaking waterscapes;
  • Realistic portraits and still life canvases.

It will be very easy for you to match his works with each other, as almost all of them are painted in Leonid Afremov’s signature technique called impasto. Let’s look closely at one of his magnificent works called Green Dreams.

Dreams as a Form of Imagination

Imagination is a magical capability of the human brain. We often imagine real things, something that is about to happen or something that will probably never come true.  When we really want to come closer to that desired future, we start dreaming about it. It’s not here yet, however, we already think of it as if it were something real.  A dream is like a breath of fresh air in our otherwise gloomy daily life. It lifts us up above the routine, gives us a different perspective on life, even though it can be imaginary and unreal. A dream improves our mood, stretches our wings, brings up new emotions and adds some spice to the cocktail of our tasteless everyday life. Day after day we run like a hamster in an exercise wheel: we go to work and come home. And then finally, in a rare moment of rest we dive into our dream. It saves us from those thoughts about how to earn some more money and then carefully spend it, the thought of what we call our life; however, it’s not our life anymore, it’s more like existing now. We turn ourselves into a money-making machine, sometimes even in order to pursue our dream. We dream of a house, a new sports car, about our children’s education and the possibility to give them everything we didn’t have a chance to get etc. We all dream about different things. That’s why our imagination and its power can differ from person to person. There are people, for instance, who are so very addicted to dreaming that after some time they become delirious and nothing good comes from it. There are pragmatists who kill their dreams long before they approach their head. They have learned (probably from their unfortunate experience) that only a very small part of their dreams actually come true and have stopped dreaming at all. There are also people who think that you need to believe in your dream, make it a part of your life and it will magically help you make it come true, give you the strength and energy necessary for it. Those who don’t have wings don’t dream. Those who have them dream. However, not all of them can make it come true, as it’s necessary to have a clear plan and stick to it and not just dreamily flap their wings and fly in all possible directions.

Social Dreams

Not only individuals can dream. Whole communities, nations and countries can share one dream. Do you remember one of the most famous speeches of the twentieth century I have a dream by Martin Luther King? One more cliché that has the word dream in it is the American dream. It is a political and psychological paradigm when no matter what your age, nationality, race, religion; you can start over and achieve the heights of social and personal success. Every year a lot of people from all over the world come to the United States to pursue their own American dream.

Personal Dreams

We all dream of something that is dear to our heart. It can be

  •  Success;
  •  Prosperity;
  •  Happiness;
  •  Love;
  •  Marriage;
  •  Children, etc.

 It’s funny sometimes when a person you really like invites you out, and at that exact moment you already start picturing in your head what dress you’re going to buy for your wedding and what the names of your children will be. However, that person doesn’t meet any of your expectations even on your first date. Does this sound familiar? It’s more common for women, of course. However, there is another story common for men. They might dream about a seem-to-be perfect and absolutely unattainable woman, who they think, is way out of their league. And then one day their dream comes true. Suddenly they realize that that woman is not so perfect and very far from being an angel. That is a funny thing about human beings in general- we dream about something, but either we don’t know what exactly we want or the future doesn’t meet our expectations after all.

Hopefully this wonderful painting by Leonid Afremov will help you realize what it is exactly you want.
