This time Leonid Afremov managed to create an evening mood for us with the help of truly autumn flowers – oaklings – their yellow and red buds fill almost the entire canvas. But in the painting of course there is enough place for the background image – it is depicted in dark autumn colors – we find here such colors as yellow and various shades of brown and glimmers of blue, as if the artist originally wanted to portray the background in blue colors, as if the flowers are on the windowsill and behind them – the blue sky but then he inked some dark paints over the sky. And yet in the painting, namely, in a vase with flowers, we find a lot of green – these are green petals on the stems – you can see that the flowers have recently been picked from the beds and they have not had time to fade and therefore the colors look very bright.

The whole canvas is literally imbued with the autumn.
