about this painting:

Erroll Garner 2

Listening to the master

In his painting entitled Erroll Garner Leonid Afremov offers his audience to get acquainted with the biography and work of one of the most famous jazzman.

In the painting we see the musician engaged in playing the piano. Apparently, he is very immersed into the playing. Having tilted his head on the right, he listens to his own music, to the melody that comes from the musical instrument. He literally twists in a whirlwind of colors filling the painting and creating its background. Starting from the dark blue on the edges of the canvas, they become brighter and brighter approaching the figure of the master. These light colors create some kind of a halo around the famous musician. He literally floats in the air with his musical instrument. Leonid Afremov portrayed him as a kind of deity that was granted the right to play in heaven. The musician is dressed rather orientally - he wears white clothes resembling a robe, as well as his hat resembles the one worn by Muslims or Jews. His face is adorned with a neatly trimmed beard through which a dazzling white smile is visible. The thing the most clearly depicted in the painting is the piano itself on which the musician plays. It is decorated with wooden patterns. Apparently, this is a rather expensive tool which is many years old. Perhaps it was descended through generations in some noble family before being in possession of Erroll Garner.

We hope that some notes will still reach the ear of the viewer of this painting and will produce the most positive effect on him that will become one of the factors influencing the decision to buy this painting.
