ELECTRIC CITY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Between shadowed facades and a bright receding passage, Electric City turns the urban night into a charged encounter with movement, interruption, and light. Its city is less a fixed location than a force gathered along the central corridor, where the surrounding vertical forms seem to lean inward. The brightness ahead gives the scene a sense of arrival, though what waits there remains deliberately undefined.

The darker edges hold the composition in tension, making the concentrated glow feel less like a distant beacon than a sudden opening in the city’s density. Small illuminated rectangles punctuate the surrounding structures, suggesting inhabited spaces without reducing them to a specific story. The work leaves room for the viewer to feel the city as both exhilarating and slightly unknowable.

Below the dark dividing band, the reflected world breaks apart and gathers again in vivid fragments. Orange, yellow, pink, blue, and teal descend into one another, turning the lower half into a restless counterpart to the architecture above. These reflections do not simply repeat the buildings; they loosen them, as if the city’s identity becomes more fluid when seen in passing.

What remains is a vision of urban energy caught between order and improvisation. The upright forms establish a stern rhythm, while the luminous center and unsettled reflections resist stillness. Electric City carries the feeling of moving through a crowded district after rain, when lights seem to belong equally to the streets, the windows, and the imagination.
