DEPTH CURRENT reflects a scene inspired by mermaid aesthetics, expressed through confident palette knife strokes and layered pigment.
The surface reveals intentional texture, with raised paint catching light and softer tones settling into subtle transitions.
The composition focuses on atmosphere and material presence rather than literal detail, encouraging calm and intuitive viewing.

Across its layered blue distance, Depth Current turns the idea of water into a state of mind - expansive, unsettled, and quietly absorbing. The central opening, where pale turquoise and cream gather, feels less like a fixed horizon than a passage through shifting depth. Darkness at the edges gives that passage a sense of pressure, as though the surrounding blue is both boundary and invitation.
The work’s mermaid-like atmosphere remains suggestive rather than illustrative. Its wave-like bands carry an undertow of movement, while the cool violet region above withholds any definite sky or shore. This ambiguity allows the scene to hover between natural force and inward reverie, with calm emerging not from stillness but from sustained motion.
Near the center, the lighter passages break through in irregular, foaming forms, giving the composition a pulse of release. Against them, the deeper blues feel protective, almost nocturnal, yet never entirely closed. The eye is drawn forward and then held in suspension, as if the current continues beyond what can be seen.
