CURTAIN FIGURE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

CURTAIN FIGURE — A dramatic abstract composition unfolds through dense, curtain-like bands of color. Layered vertical strokes create a sense of movement and depth, while a cool central passage draws the eye into the richly contrasted field.

Cobalt, sky blue, and pale blue-gray forms occupy the center, surrounded by red-orange, rust, deep teal, and charcoal accents. Cream and gold strokes brighten the middle and right side, creating luminous breaks against darker passages. Thick, directional, impasto-like brushwork gives the surface a tactile energy, with broken color and overlapping marks suggesting fabric panels without depicting a literal scene. Horizontal strokes gather near the lower portion, adding visual weight and rhythm. The result is expressive, textured, and non-representational, balancing warm and cool hues across the full composition.

Its tall format and strong vertical rhythm make it an engaging choice for spaces seeking bold color and movement. The central blue form offers a focused visual anchor, while the surrounding warm tones bring drama and intensity. Display it as a statement piece in a contemporary living area, creative workspace, hallway, or gallery-inspired interior where layered abstraction can complement both restrained and richly colored surroundings.
