about this painting:
Fire in the sky
Magnificent seascape opens to our eyes in the painting of Leonid Afremov called Crimson Clouds. Although in reality the clouds are not crimson, as the name of the canvas suggests – they are painted in yellow, orange, blue and other pastel colors. Hardly the shades of gray that we see in the left corner of the painting can be called crimson.
The sky is depicted in the form of layers – the front layer is a large cloud in pastel colors, it fell on the horizon covering most of the sky, the next one is the brightest element of the canvas – light transparent clouds illuminated by sunlight – it seems that they literally ignited with sunlight, blazing with solar gold, and finally the third layer is the darkest, those places which are no longer reached by the sun, rolling over the horizon, but for us this layer is still painted in lilac and blue shades. Here is such a kind of heavenly cake prepared for us by Leonid Afremov.
And of course, you can imagine the degree of the fascination experienced by the passengers of the lonely yacht in the foreground of the painting. On it we do not find bright colors because it is in the shadow of the foreground cloud.
Well, we would hope that our characters have passed a bright sunny day that gave them thousands of sunbeams. They enjoyed the good weather to their hearts desire, but now it’s time for them to navigate to the shore, because soon the sun will disappear behind the horizon and the sea will be plunged into darkness.
In this canvas clouds are in the focus of our attention, so we decided to tell you some interesting facts about this natural phenomenon:
- An average cloud weighs about ten tons.
- Thunderstorm clouds can be 10 km high.
- The clouds formation is impossible without particles of dust or smoke, which are the centers of moisture condensation.
Unlike the other paintings of the artist the marvelous Crimson Clouds canvas is made as if not for sale – it seems that the artist created it for himself but nevertheless you can buy it on the site.
